SHINE (ages 7-13)
SHINE is our in house competition for students ages 7-13.
Instructors will prepare classes with 30 seconds of their recital piece, which will be performed for an adjudicator during class time the week of March 16-21. Classes will be awarded a ribbon in either Technique, Musicality, Teamwork, Entertainment, or All Star. Overall winners for ages 7-8 and ages 9-12 will be announced the following week.

Pre-Teen Recital Prep Party
When: Tuesday May 19, 5:00pm-7:00pm
What: A chance for classes to practice their recital dances one last time before recital, and spend time celebrating the year together
We will share our dances, review the finale, reflect on the year, play some games, and have pizza together!
Dress Rehearsals
Two dress rehearsals: Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22
Specific class time frames will be available in January
Valentine's Pre-Teen Pizza Party
As our Pre-Teen Christmas Pizza Party was cancelled due to weather, we will be having a “make up” Valentine’s themed party on Thursday, February 19, from 6:30 - 7:15 pm. All those currently enrolled in classes for ages 9-12 are invited. If you already ordered pizza for the Christmas party, you are already on the list and your order will go towards this party. If you didn’t previously RSVP/order and would like to, please use the attached form.
Grownups & Donuts: Observation Week
Students’ grownups are invited to observe their dance classes throughout the week!
B-Sides Show
B-Sides 2026 will highlight advanced dancers from the Genesis School of Dance General Program as well as choreography and performances by our Surfacing Community dancers. The show will also feature performances by guest artists, including a local musician!
This year, for the first time ever, B-Sides will include 2 SHOWS - each with a unique lineup of guest performers!
SHOW 1: 3:30pm -- featuring guests: Prairie Dancers, Rachelle Vermette
SHOW 2: 7pm -- featuring guests: Kim Hildebrand & Paula Blair, Reymark Capacete
Auditorium will open 30 minutes before each showtime.
**Following the 7pm show, there will be a Bake Sale in support of our specialty teams! Bring along cash to grab a sweet treat and support students seeking to further their training, helping us to make opportunities and resources like competitions, costumes, extra rehearsals, and guest choreographers accessible to all!

"B-Side" refers to the reverse side of a record containing a bonus track that would typically not appear on the album along with the main single. Oftentimes, B-Sides are like hidden gems waiting to be discovered and enjoyed!
In the arts, many creations are made that don’t have a place to be seen. We created our B-Sides Show to bring such creations into the spotlight. It is a special look at pieces that won’t appear in the “album” that is our year-end recital. These gems should not be missed!

Christmas Show - No Classes
Genesis School of Dance is pleased to present our annual Christmas Show!
This year's performance, "Journey to Bethlehem" will feature Genesis dancers of all ages and styles. Join us as we celebrate Advent together!

Every Star Has A Name Campaign
Every Star Has a Name:
An opportunity to support and recognize all 230 Genesis students, each with their own strengths, stories, and sometimes, barriers to dance.
Our Goal? Raise $75 per student to help provide practical supports like tuition subsidies, mentorship, rides to dance, and more - so every dancer can shine bright!

Presentation Week
Students are invited to bring a maximum of two mentors or caregivers to observe 10-15 minutes of classes. More details to come.
Dress Up Week
Starting MONDAY, October 27 through to Saturday, November 1, we’ll be having “Dress Up Week” at Genesis!
Students of all ages are welcome to wear a danceable costume to class.
*No scary costumes please!
Students who are in costume will receive a treat from the front desk!
Bring a Friend Week
Students are invited to bring a friend to dance classes!

Ruah Dance Collective Showcase
On this special night, Ruah Dance Collective brings together works from diverse choreographers in one evocative evening of movement. Each piece reveals a unique artistic voice, yet together they weave a tapestry of expression — inviting audiences to experience dance as both intimate reflection and collective celebration.
The program resonates with the spirit of Nuit Blanche and offers a meaningful way to begin your evening’s journey. As the city comes alive in the dark, these dances illuminate new pathways of imagination, offering moments of contrast, connection, and wonder.
Join us for an unforgettable night where light meets movement and artistry shines through the darkness. This presentation of new works features choreography by Paula Blair, Kim Hildebrand, Hilary James, and Jenna Voth-Leclair.

Sr Intensive Camp
Accelerated training for aspiring teen dancers!
Refine skills in technique and performance, with diverse training in modern, ballet, jazz, and hip hop, while also building community through team activities and outings. The week concludes with a performance to showcase their progress.

Musical Theatre Camp
Lights, camera, action! The stage awaits…
Jump into the spotlight at this camp designed for young performers! Students will experience triple-threat training - exploring jazz and tap dance, as well as honing their acting and singing skills.

Movin' and Groovin' Kids Camp
Whether it’s their first time in a dance class or they’re back for more fun over the summer, students will enjoy an action-packed week learning a few different dance styles and moving through each day with arts and crafts, bible activities, games, and outings! Parents and caregivers are invited to an end-of-week showcase where students show off their new moves!

Explore! Camp for Young Artists
Dive into the rhythms of jazz, modern and hip hop every day, and get ready for adventure! Students will enjoy a variety of exciting field trips, and unleash creativity through arts exploration, faith reflections, and activities throughout the week.
